Who can apply under the 2026 account rules?
Xiaohongshu’s confirmed phased-rollout window is 30 September–30 October 2026. Rules apply in batches; check the account status and application step before submitting.
An ordinary account with non-CN affiliation
The confirmed rules prohibit new upgrades to a business professional account from non-CN ordinary accounts. Account affiliation is separate from company registration, nationality and the phone number used.
The person operating the account
An operator with CN affiliation who can provide an identity card may enter the onboarding route. A foreign operator must be in mainland China, provide a +86 phone number and sign the platform compliance commitment. Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan documents receive domestic-ID treatment for professional verification; foreign-passport information is masked.
A business account that is already verified
Existing overseas business accounts retain their verified qualification. Login and data-access rules vary with the account’s affiliation; an existing account needs a different review from a new upgrade.

Can an overseas company get a Xiaohongshu business account?
An eligible CN account may apply with an overseas company, subject to operator, brand and category requirements. Under the confirmed phased rules, non-CN ordinary accounts cannot make a new business-account upgrade. Existing verified overseas business accounts retain their qualification.
Can a foreign national operate the account?
The professional-account route requires a foreign operator to be in mainland China, provide a +86 phone number and sign the platform compliance commitment. Review document type and operator conditions before submitting.
Does professional-account verification also qualify the operator for advertising?
Advertising entry has a separate real-name step. The official notice accepts only a mainland China second-generation resident identity card for that step; a passport or Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan travel permit does not satisfy it.
What should I send for a first review?
Send your company country, brand and category, new or verified account status, account affiliation if known, and the operator’s document type and current location. Muxiang reviews the route and missing materials; the platform decides approval.
