A blocked overseas business-account upgrade is not necessarily a missing company document. The new rule specifically restricts ordinary non-CN accounts from upgrading; uploading more company paperwork does not by itself resolve an account-eligibility restriction.
Latest official update from Xiaohongshu: the professional-account and KOS changes are confirmed, with phased rollout from 30 September to 30 October 2026. Requirements will apply progressively; check your account status and the relevant application step.
Check status, attribution and operator in order
First distinguish an already verified account with access trouble from a new application. Then record the exact classification or blocking notice shown by the platform. Finally check operator conditions. If the rejection concerns entity documents, account naming or another review step, the new policy does not explain every possible cause. Retain the actual message rather than assuming every failure is caused by the rollout.
Company location is not the account's recorded region
The official policy uses the Chinese term ‘户口国’ for account or user data attribution. It is distinct from company registration and the operator's identity document. An overseas company does not automatically mean a non-CN account; a mainland identity card does not prove an account is CN. The official policy supplies no complete method for checking or changing this classification. Changing a phone number or IP address must not be presented as a solution.
The boundary for new business-account applications
| Account situation | New requirements |
|---|---|
| Ordinary account attributed to non-CN | Cannot upgrade to a business professional account |
| CN account using an overseas company entity | May enter the verification route, subject to operator and other review requirements |
| Already verified business account | Assess under existing-account rules |
Choose and assess the account before treating company documents as a complete application. The official policy neither excludes all overseas entities nor guarantees approval for every CN account.
What to prepare before asking for an assessment
- Date, entry point and full error or rejection wording.
- Whether this is an upgrade block, review rejection or login problem.
- Verification status and operator conditions; redact sensitive screenshots.
Frequently asked question
Can a phone or IP change turn the account into CN?
The official policy does not define how attribution is determined or changed. Such a workaround cannot be promised. Confirm the recorded classification and any platform-supported next step before changing the account or resubmitting.
Discuss your account with Muxiang
Share your company's registration country, the account's current verification status, its platform-recorded region if known, and the operator's document type. Muxiang can help identify applicable conditions and missing information before you prepare an application. You do not need to send identity-document images for an initial discussion. Final approval remains with the platform.
